The Keyboard King
My
tribute to Jeff Stewart
My dear friend Jeff Stewart passed away from a drug overdose recently.
Jeff would come into my office at FRIENDS Peterborough and play my
keyboard. I miss his smiling face. Rest in peace, my friend!
Hey Jeff I never thought I’d have to say goodbye
this way,
Recalling all those special times when you’d drop
in to pray;
It’s so sad to think you left us all so suddenly
that day
But today I’ll tell you this, “I love you, man!”
So
I guess I’ll never see you walking down George Street again,
With
that toothless grin and impish wave, I’ll sure miss you, Jeff, my friend;
My
keyboard will sit silent ‘til that day…I know not when…
When
we play together in God’s heav’nly band.
I trust you’ve finally found the peace you sought
for oh so long,
Trying to block out harmful thoughts each time you
played a soulful song;
As we say our last goodbyes today it all seems oh
so wrong,
But now God holds you close my dear lost friend.
So
I guess I’ll never see you walking down George Street again,
With
that toothless grin and impish wave, I’ll sure miss you, Jeff, my friend;
My
keyboard will sit silent ‘til that day…I know not when…
When
we play together in God’s heav’nly band.
