Here's a great picture from our friend Lisa J. over at Thoughts from the Teahouse. What a majestic tree!
Reminds me of Psalm 1:
"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night.He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers."

Hey Fish, great to see you tonight and enjoy the sounds of some beautiful hymns. There's something especially sweet about hearing children singing them, too. I must admit the verse from "Jesus, lover of my soul" doesn't exactly fit them theme of Psalm 1, but the great promises in this song bear repeating as well:
ReplyDeleteOther refuge have I none,
hangs my helpless soul on thee;
leave, ah! leave me not alone,
still support and comfort me!
All my trust on thee is stayed;
all my help from thee I bring;
cover my defenseless head
with the shadow of thy wing.
I'll be humming this tune in my sleep tonight, so i must rush off to bed! Will take you up on the offer to sit around the piano with a hymn book. Name the date.

Paul:
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment, dear brother...finally! That medley of hymns by the young kids was incredible wasn't it! My prayer is that those children will remember at least some of those lyrics.
Piano, hymnbook, Paul Elliott, the Pilgrim...doesn't get much better.
See you soon, bro!

Very refreshing to read a part of Psalm 1... I memorized it with my best friend when we were 11. We had a race to see who could memorize it fastest...ummmm, I forgot who won. Well, he must have, because I still remember finishing my bowl of nasty-tasting chili before him when we were 6, and that was even a longer time ago!
