His Hand

During a "dark night of the soul" last evening, the Lord upheld me by His strong, powerful hand. As I drove slowly in to work just after 10 p.m. I was reflecting on the events of the day, troubled but trusting...I think. I may tell you more about this dreadful experience later but through it all I sensed the hand of God sustaining me and shielding me.

These words came to mind and I share them with you, my pilgrim pals:

HIS HAND

By faith I stand in Canaan's land
And trace the outline of His hand.

As fear and doubt encompass me
Jehovah-Jireh is my plea.

Into His hand my cares I thrust,
In Him alone I place my trust.

And when this present battle's done,
My faith renewed, the vict'ry won.

I'll praise Him for His outstretched hand
That pulled me from the sinking sand.

My faith still stands in no one less,
My sovereign God...His name I bless!

How come you were going to work so late?
Do you work the night shift sometimes?

  5. Dear Pilgrim Pals:

Thank you so much for your encouragment over the last few days. It's been rough recently but we're trusting God to carry us through.

Terry, you are very perceptive! When I'm not feeling well I tend to write more. It's therapeutic for me.

Last night I went to bed with a stomach ache and a migraine right after dinner. I got up at 10 to go to work at Christian Horizons. I work what's called a "night sleep" shift from 11 to 9 the next morning. We presently only have 1 young man who we're caring for. I don't really sleep well there though.

I didn't know the outcome of the game until this morning. It was just too stressful.

Please keep us in your prayers. Carol and I have important meetings today at 2:15 and again tomorrow at 9:15. We value your prayer support so much.

    And...just a reminder...anyone can quote anything I write...anytime.

    Thanks again, pilgrim pals!

    Much love in Christ,

    David

    P. S. I got your letter, Hebrews 11:1. Thank you so much!

  7. I have read your blog every day...ever since Darc (my daughter) introduced me to blogging. Your thoughts and insights are blessing my mornings. Psalm 40:1-3 has been my prayer these past 2 weeks. Our hope is always in Jesus.
    Blessings!

  8. you know, David, i'm thinking God has you in that "psalmist spot" ... where you can only write when you are being tested and tried ...

such a wonderful poem ... it can and will encourage others in places of night - to help them hang on for that light of day to appear ...

  9. Dear Mr. Fisher,

Thank you for letting me know you received the letter. You have no idea how refreshing that is to know that a letter reached its destination...especially having sent 3 in your province, and still not knowing whether any made it....

    Praying for you always,
    "Hebrews 11:1"
