Today I listened to an old favorite song entitled Under His Wings. I played it over and over again, thrilled with the old melody AND with the very meaningful lyrics.
Under His wings I am safely abiding;
Though the night deepens and tempests are wild,
Still I can trust Him, I know He will keep me;
He has redeemed me, and I am His child.
Chorus:
Under His wings, under His wings,
Who from His love can sever?
Under His wings my soul shall abide,
Safely abide forever.
Under His wings--what a refuge in sorrow!
How the heart yearningly turns to His rest!
Often when earth has no balm for my healing,
There I find comfort, and there I am blest.
Under His wings--oh, what precious enjoyment!
There will I hide till life's trials are o'er;
Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me;
Resting in Jesus I'm safe evermore.
what beautiful words...it's such a comfort to know that we can find total peace in God!

ReplyDeletethat is a good song, and Awesome picture!
have a great new year!
Thanks for posting the words of William Cushing's hymn, "Under His Wings." Meaningful indeed! And it is a picture the Bible uses a number of times, reminding believers that we are sheltered and secure in the Lord.
ReplyDeleteToday is the 107th anniversary of Mr. Cushing's death. If you'd like to learn more about him and other hymn writers, I encourage you to check out my daily blog, Wordwise Hymns.
