Want to read a thought-provoking comment on the ongoing issue of the singing of old hymns in our worship services? This is a good one. Check out the link at the bottom of this post.
Doug Groothuis says it better than I ever could! He has a broader audience and is well-respected in evangelical circles.

I don't know about the broader audience. You may never know the audience you truly have. Plus, I have no idea the audience your counterpart (he's an unknown to me) has.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I sometimes enjoy an older hymn set to a "praise band" setting, but I also enjoy them in their "natural" setting (yep, pipe organ and all!!!). As long as it's not the saddest and most drawn-out depressing version of "Oh Happy Day" you ever heard, then it's a step up from my roots.
